The body of the Contarex Bullseye (the first Contarex model) contained a total of approx. 1100 pieces! The Contarex was the result of decades of experience of one of the largest, most famous and ingenious manufacturers and top brand of cameras and optical systems.

There are lots of myths, stories and legends around this camera and lenses. Some people say the lenses made for the Contarex are the best lenses ever made and never surpassed, even with modern technology. These pages are dedicated to older camera systems and pictures taken with cameras like Zeiss Ikon Contarex, Contaflex, Rolleiflex, Leicas and others!

Yesterdays photoequipment is better then ever, because of it's phantastic built quality and - of course - the excellent optical qualities, especially with todays film material!

The way of taking pictures is different compared to the shooting with todays SUPER-AF-ALL-AUTOMATIC-CAMERAS. The results you can achieve with older prime lenses like Zeiss Tessar 2.8/50mm (Contaflex) or 2.0/50mm Planar, 4.0/35mm Distagon (Contarex) can be excellent. Of course a modern SLR camera is more convenient to use, but taking pictures with these old pieces of machinery is really cool!
